LSE and Imperial Events

Hi, Sunny here.

For 11 years, I have helped students build their CVs and get into some of the best universities in the UK and America such as Oxford, Stanford, and Yale. You can sign up here to receive my newsletter on CV-building activities alongside tips and insights on succeeding in the admissions process. I am also on Twitter and Instagram. And if you want professional help with university admissions, our company website is here.

As I hinted at in previous newsletters, summer opportunities are starting to dry up as deadlines for programmes, internships and trips close. There are still many local opportunities. For instance, your child could ask to shadow a local GP, vet, account etc. And, of course, your child can still kickstart their own project over the summer. Here are some more official events that are still available.

Upcoming Events:

Inequality in Children and Young People's Healthcare: Hosted by esteemed health Campaigner Dr Guddi Singh at Imperial College, this event focuses on health inequality issues and their unfortunate connection to unequal treatment in chronic illness with young people. For those who are interested in research and medicine, this is a great opportunity to learn about its impact on the world beyond scientific theory. Furthermore, those interested in the humanities should also consider signing up. There are more links being created between the world of medicine, economics and ethics, and this talk lies at the intersection of them all. 5 July.

Caregiver Wellbeing and Urban Policy: I recommend attending this great event hosted at LSE for those who are more interested in the social sciences. We often think of policy and our personal lives as being two separate and unrelated parts of our experience, but this could not be further from the truth. This panel will look at how policy can affect ideas and notions of parenthood and the other way around. It will also look at what sort of policies we could put in place in the future and how this might lead to a world where "parenthood" means something completely different). The speakers are world-class, including Dr Kate Laffan and Katie Beck.

Video Highlights:

Interested in engineering?: Engineering is a lucrative degree that opens up many specialisation avenues. As part of the broader field of STEM, the future is bright for the subject. In this video, we run through what studying the subject is like, to give your child a flavour of what they should expect.

Want to apply for Philosophy? Here is how to ace the application: Philosophy is a great subject that has many applications and can unlock entirely new ways of thinking. Depending on where a student applies, the course can be highly competitive. In this video, Fionn, our humanities teacher at A&J School, runs through the best ways to boost your child's chances of getting into an amazing program.
