Students aiming for the best universities that are not Oxbridge will have their applications submitted within the next three weeks. We know that school time is very busy right now for many students. So we have done some of the leg work to compile a list of great activities your child could do to give their application a boost. Now is not the time to be messing around. Here are some resources to help your child gain an edge.

For undergraduate and postgraduate applicants (ages 12 - 25):

Towards a world of good relationships: Hosted by LSE, this event is perfect for sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists and psychologists. An amazing panel of experts discuss how we can heal society through the power of relationships. The talk promises not only to be informative but will also highlight how students can think outside of the box, as this topic is rarely even covered at the undergraduate level. 31st October Sign up above.

Molecules with electrochemistry: This is one for STEM applicants. Imperial College is one of the best universities in the world when it comes to science. This free lecture will provide a fascinating introduction to how molecule identification can help diagnose and monitor diseases in people through the use of electrochemistry. Hosted by Professor Danny O'Hare, this talk is a must for students who want to be able to discuss practical applications of science in their statement. 1st November. Click the link above.

Best Video Highlights:

Applying for Architecture: In this video, we break down the application process for architecture, one of the most time-intensive and prestigious degrees a student can obtain from a university. The application process can be different from what most students face. Assisted by an architecture student, this video provides vital information that will help students increase their odds of getting into a great university.

But I thought Gap years were only for rich people? : Gap years are an elusive concept. Many people envision their child just slacking off for a year, others see it as an extended holiday where their child disappears to another country to find themselves. In this video, we discuss why people take gap years if they are worth it, and provide some myth-busting. For students who are thinking about applying with a deferred entrance, this video is a great way to review if this choice is right for them.

Know this before writing your personal statement: If your child is not working on their personal statement, consider this email to be an intervention. The personal statement is one of the most critical pieces of writing your child will ever do, so it is vital for them to try and write it as well as possible. In this video, I run through some essential pieces of information to help demystify the process of writing a statement. If your child follows the advice in this video, I am confident that they will have an easier time during the writing process.
